About the derby
The annual Welton Soapbox Derby event will deliver a spectacular array of amateur drivers racing their homemade 'Soapbox Vehicles'. Each hand-made ‘dream machine’ is fuelled by nothing but gravity and sheer courage.
This free to spectate, unique, non-motorised racing event challenges you to work as a team to design and build a traditional or outrageous soapbox dream machine and compete against the clock in a downhill race.

Are you a potential race team and looking for details on how to apply?  Check out our online application form.
​Your place on the grid will not be confirmed until a completed online application has been submitted with full payment and verified by the Welton Soapbox committee.  Grid positions on race day are determined on a first come, first served basis.

Event Details
Our core objective is to provide a great family and community day, with lots to do for everyone. We are a non-profit organisation, and all monies raised are distributed to local charities and local organisations, plus raising funds to ensure we can cover our costs to do it all again next year!
Huge crowds
Thousands of spectators watch the Soapbox in the small village of Welton, near Daventry in Northamptonshire.
Enjoy the footfall and sell your products and services to the crowd!
